DAN OLESEN FOR WARD 1
Listening Today. Lifting Tomorrow.
Independent. Accountable. Genuine.
City Hall is changing with the introduction of party politics. Dan is running as an independent, so your voice is heard directly, not filtered through party agendas.
Together, we can focus on what matters most: safer streets, growth that respects neighbourhoods, and responsible spending that reflects your priorities.
Dan Olesen for Ward 1 and Calgary
Keeping Ward 1 Independent
City Hall works best when neighbours represent neighbours. Bill 20 introduces political parties into City Council and school boards, while giving the Province more control over local decisions.
The shift risks replacing community priorities with party agendas. Instead of debating roads, CTrain safety, housing, or taxes, council could turn into a battleground for provincial and federal fights.
Ward 1 deserves a councillor who listens first, considers different perspectives, and makes decisions guided by the needs of residents. That is why I am running as an independent, so your voice is heard directly at City Hall.
Top Priorities
01
Independent Representation and Bill 20
Keep party politics out of City Hall, so local voices guide decisions.
02
Responsible Development and Smart Growth
I oppose blanket rezoning. Growth must match infrastructure and respect neighbourhoods.
03
Public Safety
Every resident deserves to feel safe at home, on transit, and in the community.
04
Taxes and City Budget
Responsible spending should fix what is broken and protect residents from unnecessary tax hikes.
05
Transit and Infrastructure
Safer transit, better roads, and fair utility rates must be a priority.
06
Support for Seniors
Seniors should be able to age in place with dignity, safety, and a sense of connection.
07
Small Business and Local Economy
Local businesses deserve fair rules and real opportunities to grow and hire locally.
08
Parks and Environment
Protecting parks and green spaces keeps Ward 1 healthy, connected, and livable.
Why Dan Olesen Deserves Your Vote
Listening in Action
Every conversation matters. From doorsteps to coffee shops, your stories guide my priorities.

A mom at Dalhousie CTrain station told me she feels unsafe taking her kids on transit. I will fight for more peace officers and security staff so residents feel secure.

A family in Bowness feels worried about blanket rezoning. I will carry their concerns into discussions on responsible development and growth.

A senior in Varsity shared how winters leave her feeling isolated. I support accessible upgrades, snow-clearing services, and community programs that reduce feelings of isolation.
